10th Oscar Ecotourism Edition 2022

Legambiente awards Acanto Country House in Sirolo at the Rimini TTG among the 14 Italian companies that offer sustainable tourism that focuses on the valorization of nature and territories.

Increasingly green, sustainable and responsible tourism. This is what is increasingly spreading in Italy, where from the north to the south of the peninsula, more and more businesses – from accommodation facilities to networks to protected areas – are at the forefront of innovative tourism initiatives and projects focused on the environment and the enhancement of nature and territories, promoting inclusiveness and networking.

This is the tenth edition of Legambiente's 2022 Ecotourism Oscar, which supports this, and this year too rewards some of the best Italian excellence in sustainable and responsible hospitality.

Only four accommodations have been awarded, including Acanto Country House, for its eco-sustainable commitment.

The winners of this 10th edition were awarded at the TTG Travel Experience scheduled in Rimini, at the end of the round table “Tourism 4.0 between ecological transition and digital innovation” which saw the participation of Marco Bussone, president of UNCEM, Sebastiano Venneri, of the National Secretariat of Legambiente and head of Tourism of the association, Antonio Nicoletti, national head of Protected Areas and Biodiversity of Legambiente, Daniele D'Amario, Councilor for Tourism, Culture and Productive Activities of the Abruzzo Region and Martina Rosato, Director of the General Directorate for Tourism Promotion and Valorization – Ministry of Tourism.

The event was also an opportunity to take stock of the funds the PNRR has allocated to the development and improvement of the tourism sector. This is approximately €2.4 billion, largely dedicated to achieving the best performance in the sector on digitalization and environmental sustainability.

“The organizations awarded today and in these ten years of the Ecotourism Oscars," says Sebastiano Venneri, Legambiente's national tourism manager, "point to the best path that our country, among the most appreciated and visited in the world, must continue to take, developing and defining a different idea of tourism: no longer mass, but gentle and high-quality, active and responsible, increasingly attentive to the environment. A type of tourism increasingly appreciated by people who opt for eco-friendly destinations where good sustainable practices have been introduced, where there is attention to the excellent agri-food supply chain, to ecological tourism services”

The owners have worked, since the design, to make the structure green. Thanks to the technological and material choices, the structure has a CO2 emission that tends to 0. They installed photovoltaic and solar thermal systems, achieving energy class A3 in 2018. All breakfast products are local and traditional and also offer educational play activities on medicinal herbs.
